Thoughts for today |

A book can trigger significant change in me. Dante’s trilogy ,‘The Divine Comedy’ did so. The opening line of the first book, Hell, " Midway this way of life we’re bound upon, I woke to find myself in a dark wood, where the right road was wholly lost and gone." At the time of this read, I was in the beginning of my departure from Catholicism. I was troubled by the path I was on. Dorothy L. Sayers translated this Dante effort, from Italian. Her comments in the book inspired me to read Henri Bergson’s ’Creative Evolution’. A complex read but, fruitful. I found this remark in the foreword xv, " The Universe is a machine for the making of God ". This is the key one liner that lead me to peruse Quantum Physics. Not for the tiny formulas, but, for the huge philosophical implications therein. Some call this ‘soft science’. I call it Soft and Comfy. At one time I was a Metaphysical mind idler. I gave that up for the hard science speculations. This was a good change for me. |
