Thoughts for today

What do we inherit from our parents? My Mom had a very good sense of humor, I hope I have some of that. She came out of a serious surgery once, woke up from the anesthesia, opened one eye and asked the attending Japanese nurse this question, " Why did you bomb Pearl Harbor " ? The wonderful Nurse had just been a part of her staying on this planet. This was just my Mom's sense of humor coming out of a deep sleep. Here's another example of my Mom's funny stuff mixed with a little intelligence. At fourteen, with my window open and the door closed, I was hiding the fact that I smoked. I was lying in bed smoking while listening to my radio that hung on my bed's headboard. I fell asleep and the cigarette burned a hole in the sheet. My Mom came into my room the next morning to wake me, she looked down at the hole in the sheet and asked, " what happened "?  I said, ' a spark came out of the radio and burned this hole in my sheet. My Mom paused to reflect on my attempt to hide the fact that I was smoking and in bed, doing it. She said, " Louie, from now on, when you play the radio, get out of bed ". My favorite funny from my Mom.
